DESCRIPTION:Alumni are invited to join Professor Peter Myers for his special Christmas-themed Science in the Snug lecture, Schrödingers' Reindeer was wrong. Santa is a Wave-Particle Duality, on Thursday 5 December in the Victoria Gallery & Museum.In previous Christmas lectures, we have shown why some people believe it to be impossible for Santa to deliver all the presents to all the recipients in one day.  This was using classical mechanics.Several years ago, here in Liverpool we developed the theory of how Santa could deliver all the presents in less than one day using the teachings of Edwin Schrodinger.However, over the past two years a number of issues have come to light using this theory and from results obtained on the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN we have discovered new particles that have random aqueous independent nodes (rain) and these can become sub node ordered water (snow) that are associated with the Santa particle.   With these particles they are expected to be massless because the gravitational force is very long range and appears to propagate at the speed of light. The graviton must be a spin-2 boson because the source of gravitation is the stress–energy tensor, a second-order tensor (compared with electromagnetism's spin-1 photon, the source of which is the four-current, a first-order tensor).Considering this and applying this to the theory of Special Relativity means that Santa does have a physical presence hence sightings of Santa should be possible and the Santa particle can deliver all the presents and at the same time collect all the food and drink that is left as a present for Santa.The lecture will take place at 6pm on Thursday 5 December in the Victoria Gallery & Museum, Ashton Street, Liverpool L69 3DR.
