And this is the story of how and why an entire national economy has been reduced to little more than a bet on a few rich people in London.  Aditya Chakrabortty is senior economics commentator for The Guardian. He writes a weekly column on economics and politics for the newspaper as well as providing reportage from around Britain and the world. His work has won a Harold Wincott award for Business Journalism and in 2014 and 2015 he was shortlisted for an Orwell prize for political journalism. An alumnus of St Hugh’s College, Oxford, he was previously a senior producer for Newsnight and the Ten O’Clock News, and economics producer for the BBC.
