DESCRIPTION:Dr Carsten Berndt, Heinrich-Heine University Duesseldorf, Germany 'Redox regulated development and damage of the brain'Dr Berndt performed his PhD at the Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany and postdoctoral periods at the Medical Nobel Institute for Biochemistry, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden and the Institute for Clinical Cytobiology and Cytopathology, Phillips-Universitaet Marburg, Germany.Since 2015, he has led the Thiology Group at the Department of Neurology, Heinrich-Heine University Duesseldorf, Germany and in 2018 he obtained his habilitation and Venia legendi in Biochemistry. He identified FeS-glutaredoxins and the first thiol-redox dependent process in the model organism zebrafish.
