DESCRIPTION:Part of the Yoko Ono Lennon Lunchtime Concert SeriesFrom Clara Schumann to Amy Beach, University of Liverpool Music Department alumna Soraya Verjee will perform a programme of music composed solely by women.During her Undergraduate degree, Soraya became passionate about championing underrepresented composers following an increased awareness of the male-dominated industry. Now, as a freelance musician, she continues to perform, aiming to challenge gender stereotypes and spotlight the music of women once forgotten.Post-concert workshop at 2.30pmThe concert will be followed by a talk and workshop led by the Department of Music to spotlight and celebrate women in the music industry, with a particular focus on working as a performer for the 2026 event.This concert is a joint celebration of International Women’s Day and the University of Liverpool’s Women’s Club, the latter marking their centenary this year.Supported by The University of Liverpool’s Women's Club----The Tung Auditorium Lunchtime Concert Series is supported by Yoko Ono Lennon via Spirit FoundationsIf the event is sold out, keep checking the event page for returns, tickets often become available the day before.
