After studying Biochemistry at The University of Bath, Angus undertook his PhD on innate immune cell signalling at the University of Glasgow, under the supervision of Professor Janet Allen. Following a short Postdoctoral fellowship in Glasgow, he moved to the CRUK London Research Institute at Lincoln’s Inn Fields to study protein kinase regulation of cancer cell biology with Professor Peter Parker. He established his research group at Barts Cancer Institute in 2013 focussing on protein kinase regulation of epithelial cancer development and cancer cell interactions with the tumour microenvironment.
His laboratory takes a multidisciplinary approach employing cell biology techniques, in vivo models, pathology and bioinformatics to explore cellular interactions in tumours and
identify drug targets for translation. Angus is also Director of Graduate studies for Barts Cancer Institute, overseeing the postgraduate research degree program and teaches on a variety of undergraduate courses, including tissue pathology and personalised medicine. He is an enthusiastic supporter of patient and public outreach programs and is an Associate Editor of The Journal of Pathology.
