Classically trained composer, sought after collaborator and five times Grammy award-winning pianist Bill Laurance has built a career uniquely blending genres of music that seem to be at stylistic polar opposites with each other. Originally trained as a classical pianist, Laurance has been demonstrating his unique creativity and improvisation for many years as a founding member of Snarky Puppy.
“A jazz maestro” (The Guardian)
His diverse work includes advertising compositions for Apple, film soundtracks such as Un Traductor (2018) and collaborations with renowned ensembles such as the WDR Big Band and the Metropole Orkest. Most recently, he released the highly acclaimed album Where You Wish You Were (ACT Music) together with Michael League.
His latest release Lumen opens doors into a vast world of imagination, in which the chance to explore and to dig into his heritage, and into himself, has led Bill Laurance to create music which is grounded in melody, but also lives and breathes the allure of freedom.
