Justine Kane-Smyth

Justine qualified from the Royal Dick Vet School, Edinburgh, in 2007 and initially worked in mixed practice.  In 2009 she moved to The Liphook Equine Hospital as a house vet before joining the ambulatory team at the hospital’s branch practice on the Isle of Wight.  In 2011 Justine returned to Edinburgh to complete an ECVS residency in equine surgery, working towards a European diploma and Masters. Following completion of residency training, she remained at the university in a locum position as lecturer in equine surgery. 

Justine has a broad area of surgical interests including sino-nasal surgery, imaging of the head and equine dentistry. She has published in peer reviewed veterinary journals and presented her work at several international conferences. Her current research interests involve investigation of a novel surgical vocalcordectomy technique, evaluations of skull anatomy, and investigations of surgical approaches to the navicular bursa.
