Dr Eva Rioja Garcia

Lecturer in Anaesthesia



Eva graduated from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2000. After a short period of small animal private practice she was awarded a scholarship by the Spanish Ministry of Education to pursue a PhD, which she completed in 2004. In 2005 she moved to Canada to the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, to pursue a residency in Anaesthesiology until 2008. After her residency, she stayed as a staff anaesthesiologist at the Ontario Veterinary College during 2009, and in that same year, became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia (ACVAA). In 2010, she moved to South Africa to join the Faculty of Veterinary Science of the University of Pretoria as a Senior Lecturer in Anaesthesia, until the end of 2012. She then joined the University of Liverpool as a Lecturer in Anaesthesia.

Clinical interests include anaesthesia of all species, cardiac and neuro-anaesthesia, pain management with special emphasis in regional anaesthetic techniques.
