International Pheromone Systems - Iris Wagner
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is an ecologically and environmentally sustainable approach that reduces the reliance on chemical pesticides to manage pest outbreaks. IPS Insect semiochemicals are one such tool, utilising pheromones to reduce pests. This project aims to improve the environmental performance of their products by the design of a more efficient pheromone dispenser alongside the development of new less volatile pheromones. Greater efficiency and increased field life enables operational management to reduce carbon emissions through reducing the number of dispensers required over a season (thereby saving on plastic hardware production costs, disposal and associated logistic); enabling further application of the protein utilised in the product for other approaches (reducing VOCs); and reducing pesticide use (and therefore production) overall due to better land management practices being adopted as clients move to adopt more sustainable IPM practises.
