Personal Statement

I am a volcanologist whose research focuses on linking the petrological, geochemical, rheological and textural evolution of magma with a motivation to understand the mechanisms and processes driving volcanic unrest. I use a multidisciplinary approach, combining a range of field, analytical and experimental techniques, to investigate the evolving physical and chemical state of magma during its ascent to the surface and the impact this has on eruption dynamics.
