Personal Statement
I am a field and experimental volcanologist with an interest in how fluids flow and impact the physics of volcanic environments. I investigate the development and longevity of fractures in volcanic edifices through a set of laboratory experiments to understand: 1) Cycles of pressure build-up and release that can trigger explosive eruptions; and 2) the localisation of high-temperature fluids that can be harnessed for geothermal energy.
Additionally, while I take an active part in monitoring of active volcanoes in Guatemala, I am also broadening the scope of my research through teaching Geophysics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
