In the month of July, five students from the School of the Arts will be undertaking a 4-week International Summer Skills programme with our partner company, Pagoda Projects. These five places are fully funded by the school, following a difficult shortlisting process of 23 applications.

The course offers a range of digital modules focusing on improving cultural fluency, employability, digital skills and workplace basics for graduates. Delivered virtually through live workshops, arts-specific webinars, Q&As sessions with industry leaders, specific networking events, alumni reunions and social activities, the course ensures a well-rounded events package that covers a huge variety of topics that will challenge our students and expand their international horizons.

Our students will be paired with a cultural mentor from either China, Vietnam or Mexico and provided with a bespoke digital platform to discuss interesting topics initiated by Pagoda. There will plenty of opportunities to network with current participants completing similar variations of the programme from around the world. With access to Pagoda’s extensive alumni network of over 3,000 past participants, they will have access to exclusive further international opportunities which are posted regularly.

Ali Hashemi, Partnerships Manager at Pagoda said “Everyone at Pagoda is delighted to be working with some of the most creative and best students enrolled at University of Liverpool this summer. The School of Art team have been a real pleasure to partner with throughout the academic year and have made a great effort to source virtual experiences that’s tailored for their students and focusing on the Arts. The students will join a cohort of hundreds of others from around the world that will hopefully provide tangible benefits in the near future as they enter a difficult graduate job market.

Architecture student, Iasmina is looking forward to joining the team at Pagoda: “This course will help my career as it is something unique that will stand out in my CV and an exciting experience to undertake in these challenging times.

For Philosophy, Politics & Economics student, Ishaan, the course will open similar doors: “I applied for a Pagoda Internship as it seemed like a great way to boost my employability skills whilst being able to work with international corporations and learn about their culture.
