As well as providing more than 20 IELTS tests a year, the University of Liverpool English Language Centre offers language training specific to IELTS test taking on weekday afternoons.
These afternoon sessions give you training in specific skills for the Academic IELTS test and can be combined with our Activate English programme for those who wish to devote more time to their language development.
The IELTS training course is 6 hours from Monday to Thursday and you can study for as little as 2 weeks or up to a year. Start on any Monday outside of our holiday periods.
While you study with us you will have access to University of Liverpool resources and facilities, including libraries, computing, sporting facilities, and the Guild of Students. You will also have access to language learner specific resources through our own Language Lounge.
You can take part in the ELC social programme allowing you to meet other learners of English in an informal environment.
To study for IELTS you will need mid- A2 level on the CEFR. If you have studied around 300 hours of English then you will probably reach this level. Do not worry if you do not know your level. You can ask us for an online test when you apply. The minimum level to begin IELTS preparation is mid-A2 but dependent on demand, IELTS preparation can run at up to 7 levels, including Advanced C1 level.
Timetable: Monday – Thursday
14.00 – 15.30 (6 hours per week)
Fees for Activate English can be found on our dates and fees page. If you wish to take an IELTS test at the University of Liverpool you will need to pay a test fee. Information on the IELTS test and test fee can be found here.
