Supporting the School of Engineering
The University of Liverpool School of Engineering is one of the few departments in the UK to have a dedicated centre for educational excellence.
As well as researching and developing learning methods and technologies, we provide close support to the School's staff and students.
Members of our team sit on or chair the panels responsible for issues such as School curriculum, resource planning and student experience.
In short, we champion the needs of students and staff when it comes to receiving or delivering first class education.
Here are some examples of our activities...
Industrial liaison board: we coordinate the relationship with the many engineering organisations and leading industrialists who contribute to the development and delivery of the School's courses.
XJTLU: through the University's partnership in Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University we welcome many engineering students from China. As a result the Centre has developed a range of services to support overseas students.
Formula Student: we coordinate and support the School's annual entry into the competition to design, build and race a single-seater racing car.
Clickers: we provide all students in the School with personal response systems or 'clickers'. They use these in years one and two in lectures, for example to answer multiple choice or study questions.
Staff development: through our involvement in organisations such as CDIO we keep our academic staff abreast of the latest engineering educational trends and techniques. We also facilitate peer networking internationally.
