Foundation Year Entry
If you are interested in studying any of the undergraduate degree programmes offered by the School of Engineering, but lack the appropriate science and maths background, our two Foundation Year Entry courses could be ideal for you. They provide the background knowledge and skills to allow you to progress into Year 1 of any of our undergraduate degree programmes.
Engineering BEng (Hons) Foundation Year Course at Carmel College (UK and EU Students)

This Foundation Year is based at Carmel College, St Helens, about nine miles from the main University precinct. You will be registered as a University of Liverpool student, and have access to University facilities and accommodation, as well as student loans. The College offers small class teaching and high standards of academic achievement. All students study Physics, Mathematics and Additional Mathematics, assessed by examination and coursework. Successful completion at the required level allows progression into Year 1 of any of our Engineering degree programmes on the main University precinct.

Foundation Certificate in Science and Engineering Course at Liverpool International College (International Students)
This Foundation Certificate course, provided by Liverpool International College on the main University precinct, has been designed specifically to meet the needs of international students. The Engineering pathway includes Applied Mathematics, Basic Engineering and Physical Sciences modules, with an emphasis on developing key academic skills including research, essay writing, presentation and analysis. English Language tuition is also provided for students who need it. Successful completion at the required level allows progression into the first year of any of the Engineering degree programmes.
