Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

The research in the Department spans in many engineering disciplines and specialises in fields such as aerodynamics, flight dynamics and simulation, deep space missions, experimental and computational fluid dynamics, robotics and experimental mechanics, The School has scored highly in the national Research Excellence Framework (REF).

The Department has exceptional research facilities including full motion flight simulators, wind tunnels, a 90,000l recirculating water tunnel and a new low Reynolds number flow facility as part of the recent £23m National Wind Tunnel Facility award.

The Department offers undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineerig
