How to apply for a PhD
Attending an open day can provide you with the opportunity to meet academic staff in the department, tour our facilities and ask any questions you may have to help you make an informed decision. For dates and further details on our open days, please see Open Days.
How to Apply?
Please complete the online application form and attach the following documents:
- Copies of official Degree Certificates and academic transcripts showing your previous qualifications. If these are in a language other than English, please provide the Certificate in the original language and an official English translation.
- Copies of any English Lanuage Qualifications, e.g. IELTS
- Two recent references (one of which must be from your most recent place of study).
- Research proposal.
Apply via Post
We can also accept postal applications, although these take longer for us to process. If you wish to apply using our paper application form, please email email@example.com for further details.
When to apply?
We accept PhD applications throughout the entire year as students can start at the beginning of any month. For overseas students, we advise that you apply at least three months before your intended start date to allow enough time for your Visa application to be processed.
What happens now?
Your application will be considered by the School and you will normally receive a response within approximately four weeks. Please ensure that you include all the supporting documents listed above for your application to be considered as quickly as possible.
