Dr Claire Tierney
Claire received her undergraduate degree in Anatomy (BSc Hons) from the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG) in 2004. Following a brief period of working in the USA, Claire accepted a position to complete her PhD at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) working under the supervision of Prof. Fergal O’Brien. Her main field of interest during her PhD was in Bone Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, graduating in 2009. She continued to work as an Anatomy Demonstrator/Lecturer before accepting the position of Anatomy Lecturer at the University of Liverpool in 2012.
Claire’s main field of interest is in Craniofacial Anatomy, of which she is module coordinator for Head and Neck Anatomy at the Univeristy in conjunction with being the University of Liverpool Dental School Anatomy Lead in HARC. However, she teaches across a wide variety of specialisations including medicine, dentistry, health sciences and postgraduate courses. Claire’s main area of research is also within craniofacial region along with traditional anatomical sciences and is author and co-author on several papers and publications in this field.
