Our Mission

CEDS will undertake this activity through partnership working that will positively impact on the student experience locally, nationally and globally by creating an effective environment for knowledge exchange"


The Centre for Educational Development and Support (CEDS) brings together a wide portfolio of activity including staff development, development of new CPD activity, Quality Assurance, Educational Research and Technology Enhanced Learning.

Examples include:

  • Provision of practical focused teaching and assessment skills courses.
  • Assistance in programme/module/course/CPD development and business activity.
  • Providing cutting edge support for learning and teaching in Educational Technology.
  • Advice on career development including ULTRA
  • Peer observation/constructive feedback of teaching or individual modules to help improve the use of TEL quality.
  • Developing cross-faculty educational research activity.
  • Facilitating effective communication exchange by bringing together staff with similar research or teaching interests, including 3D Imaging, Simulation and Virtual Reality (VR).
  • To be inclusive of all staff technical abilities by offering support to professional services and academic staff in all areas of technology needs.

The CEDS department seek to coordinate and align our activity to that of the Centre for Innovation for Education and The Academy, to deliver maximum education impact and ensure delivery of the University’s Education Strategy. Our focus is the staff within Health and Life Sciences, both professional service and academic.
