Job Role:

My main role in the Educational Development team is to develop the My Liverpool resource for students. The first phase of the My Liverpool development, the interactive portal, showcases the large variety of co- and extra- curricular activities that students can participate in during their time in Liverpool, and also the skills that can be gained from taking part in such activities. The next phase of this work is to develop student folders within the institution’s e-portfolio system so that each student has a record of activities that they have undertaken, and skills gained from participation. The final stage of this work is to work with colleagues from across the institution to enhance the information on the university’s Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) using information from the student skill folders.

I also contribute to teaching and assessment on the CPS and PG Cert programmes, and work with colleagues from the Guild of Students and across the institution to develop/enhance our processes for student representation and student engagement. I am also involved with other institution developments such as the Academic Advisor framework, student induction, and peer mentoring.

I have worked at the University of Liverpool for 26 years. I originally joined the university as a lecturer in the department of Industrial Studies, but then moved into more developmental roles associated with enhancing the student experience. These roles have included managing a programme to introduce volunteering opportunities for our students, managing the Outlook mentoring programme at Liverpool (for BME and WP students and students with disabilities) and curriculum development activities mainly focusing on the development of employability skills, before moving to my current role in Educational Development in 2013.
