Study and training opportunities

The CDSS provides an environment that fosters the training of drug safety scientists, both clinical and non-clinical, with backgrounds in academia, industry and drug regulation, in order to generate the next generation of drug safety scientists. We have an excellent track record in the training of PhD students (many of whom have become industry leaders) as well as in training Clinical Scientists.

During the site visit from MRC for the renewal of the CDSS in 2014, the committee highlighted "The impressive growth of training and capacity building with a clear emphasis on integration of both clinical and non-clinical training".

The CDSS welcomes applications for both basic and clinical studentships from individuals with a strong academic background in a related area and a commitment to progress their training in the field of drug safety. We have postgraduate training schemes set up in the following areas:

  • Opportunities in basic research
  • Opportunities in clinical research
  • Sabbaticals.
