Potential risk factors

A large number of potential risk factors have been investigated for human-directed dog aggression

In all, over 100 potential risk factors for human-directed dog aggression were investigated in the studies we appraised for the systematic review. These can be broadly categorised as being related to; the dog, the dog's owner, interaction between the two, the target of aggression, or the circumstances and environment of the aggressive event.

Within these focuses for risk generation the investigated factors fall into clusters, there is some cross over between these and where this occurs an exposure has been inserted where it most logically falls.

It is important to not that this is a summary of the potential risk factors which have been investigated and NOT an indication of the exposures for which there is robust evidence of an effect on risk of human-directed dog aggression.
