Personal Support & Trainee Development

In recognition of the challenging and, at times, demanding nature of the programme, we aim to maintain a culture of care and nurturing, underpinned by a range of support structures that is in place for every trainee:

  • Formal and regular access to an Academic Advisor (a member of the core team) to support the development of clinical, academic, research, personal and professional competencies. This is complimented by informal access when required for general support and advice
  • Regular contact with a Mentor, a qualified clinical psychologist working outside of the programme and within the NHS, to foster wider reflection on and development of personal and professional issues, and to assist with development of personal learning and career objectives
  • Personal and Professional Development (PPD) sessions – regular time allocated within the programme to meet with the same group of colleagues to discuss and seek support for personal, ethical and professional issues
