    About

    Personal Statement

I was born and raised in Jiangsu Province on the east coast of China, educated in England for my MA at University of Bath and PhD at University of Newcastle upon Tyne. I taught degree programmes at the universities of Fudan (China), Newcastle, Salford Greater Manchester and Botswana (Southern Africa) before I joined Liverpool. My research is from interdisciplinary and comparative perspectives. My research interests lie primarily in Occidentalism and Orientalism, national identities, sociology of translation studies, and historiography of translation.

As a bilingual lexicographer and translation reviewer, I contributed to Collins Chinese Dictionary (2004) and Collins Cobuild Advanced Dictionary of English, English/Chinese (2009). I am also externally engaged in assessing postgraduate dissertations and projects for some HEIs based in UK. My hobbies include excursion, drawing and painting.
