Ms Fangyu Dong

Personal Statement

Fangyu Dong was awarded a BA in English Interpretation, and an MA in Interpreting from Newcastle University, UK (2011). For more than a decade, Dong has been a practising interpreter for conferences around the world. With an extensive background in interpreting of different settings and modes, Dong brings her experiential and profession-oriented teaching to T&I classrooms and enriches her students’ learning with up-to-date materials and teaching methods. Outside of T&I, Dong also worked as a journalist for China’s national newspaper for several years with a productive contribution ranging from cover stories to op-ed articles. She has particular interests in journalistic translation, trans-editing, and simultaneous interpreter’s cognitive loads.
