Duo two-factor authentication on Microsoft 365 services
26 March 2021
Following a series of recent high-impact cyber-attacks targeting the Higher Education sector, Computing Services Department (CSD) is acting swiftly to increase security around our systems.
On Monday 29th March, Duo two-factor authentication (2FA) will be added to Microsoft 365 services accessed from office.com.
* What does this mean for my day-to-day work?
This means that you will be prompted to use Duo 2FA when you log in to the Microsoft 365 services at office.com or access the online apps, such as SharePoint and OneDrive for Business through a web browser.
The Microsoft 365 mobile and desktop applications - such as Microsoft Teams - handle authentication in a unique way, meaning you will only be prompted occasionally, or when you use the app on a device for the first time.
* What do I need to do?
If you have already enrolled your device for Duo two-factor authentication, then you're all set - no further action is required.
For those who haven't, it will only take a few minutes to follow the steps below:
1. Watch this short video to see how easy it is to enrol your mobile and use Duo two-factor authentication: https://youtu.be/HDU35vn0SS0
