Staying safe online
Believe it or not but we're nearing the end of the second week of term at the University of Liverpool - if you're a new student, Welcome Week might feel like a distant memory by now and if you're a returning student you'll no doubt be back in to the thick of it with your studies this academic year.
Remember, there's a huge range of IT services at your disposal to help you with your work. If you're struggling to find a PC on campus then use our PC Finder tool, and if you need to check your lecture timetable or find your way around campus then download the UoL Mobile and Lecture Timetable apps from our app store for your mobile or tablet.
- Download and install free antivirus software on your laptop or PC to protect yourself against viruses and, if you're using a Windows device, make sure you have Windows Defender active to protect against spyware and malware
- Make sure you're streetwise with your email - don't open unexpected attachments, check for grammar and other 'red flag' phrases, and avoid clicking on links that may take you to websites which ask for personal or secure information
- Choose secure passwords for the services you use and make sure privacy settings for sites such as Facebook are set correctly
Stay safe online, enjoy the IT services at your disposal, and all the best for your studies!
