This module will develop your understanding of the role of sales and marketing in contemporary trade and academic publishing. Through exploration of the business of publishing, including library sales and conference promotions, you will receive insight into marketing a wide range of published material, including academic books and journals, as well as trade publications such as poetry. You will also gain specialist knowledge of digital marketing, examining the power of social media in driving sales within the industry, as well as exploring the production of marketing materials from a sustainability and EDI perspective. Taught sessions will also explore topics such as publishing finance, designing effective book covers, and the rise of BookTok.
