This 15-credit (level 6) module aims to ensure understanding of how the structure, organisation and funding of healthcare impacts on healthcare provision and patient care. It will develop critical insight into the organisation and structure of healthcare provision based upon health and social policy, professional, ethical, political and societal influences on healthcare provision, clinical governance and regulation, development of new physiotherapy and person centred care. Case based scenarios will be utilised to demonstrate how health care provision impacts upon quality of care for patients, families, carers and those that provide healthcare.
This knowledge will complement knowledge and skills obtained from practice placement allowing learners to meet the demands of modern healthcare, working in integrated teams while delivering and maintaining quality care.
This module will be taught with a combination of online and face to face lectures, workshops and directed study. Learners will incorporate knowledge gained from placements and previous academic modules to provide a relevant and contemporary context.
The module will be assessed via a written assignment involving critical analysis of the impact of service provision on patient care.
