Evidence for Practice 2

Code: OCCU284

Credits: 15

Semester: Semester 2

This the second module in the ‘The Evidence Based Occupational Therapist theme'. It is a 15 credit, Level 5 module and will equip students with skills to identify and appraise critically evidence that can inform clinical practice. Also, they will learn about the principles that must underpin ethically produced evidence.

Students will produce quantitative or qualitative research questions based on an area of interest, ideally stemming from practice education experience. They will identify potential ethical issues that might arise in relation to their question. Students will then develop a search strategy to identify evidence from primary research that will help them answer their question. They will critically appraise this evidence and synthesize the key findings, producing a critically appraised topic.

Overall, the module will equip students with skills to identify evidence to support their work during practice education and in their future clinical practice.
