Geographies of Health, Wellbeing and Environment

Code: SOES118

Credits: 15

Semester: Semester 1

The module equips students with a critical understanding of the relationships between health and place, and the tools needed to analyse and tackle health inequalities. A range of case studies will be evaluated such as how accessibility to fast food outlets influences dietary patterns or how people who live in greener neighbourhoods have better wellbeing. It also aims to enhance students’ understanding of how to apply a range of geographical perspectives and theories to real world public health policy issues. The module is assessed through two pieces of coursework.
