This module equips students with the essential econometric tools needed to analyse and interpret economic and financial data in a rigorous, applied setting. Emphasising empirical research, students will work with real-world datasets and use R programming to explore economic relationships, assess model validity, and apply advanced estimation techniques. Through hands-on workshops and coding-based exercises, students will develop the technical and analytical skills required to conduct meaningful data-driven analysis. The module fosters problem-solving and critical thinking, preparing students for more specialised econometric techniques in the second semester and for careers in economic consulting, finance, policy analysis, and data analytics.
