This module is a core component in Year 3 of the BSc Anatomy and Human Biology. It is a practical module which includes access to cadaveric dissection in the Human Anatomy Resource Centre (HARC).
Over the course of a full semester, learners conduct a thorough and systematic exploration of the gross and functional anatomy of three intricately connected body regions – the abdomen, pelvis and perineum. A typical week begins with lectures, where core concepts of anatomical themes are discussed. Learning then moves into the laboratory in HARC for a deeper, hands-on experience. Cadaveric dissection and examination are supplemented with models and applied anatomy, such as medical imaging. Working collaboratively, learners build upon the foundational knowledge and skills developed in earlier modules whilst learning new topics at an advanced level.
Learners are assessed through a mixture of written and practical assessments.
