Suman Chandra completed his MSc in chemistry from IIT(ISM) Dhanbad, India. After gaining knowledge on supramolecular weak interaction at IIT Roorkee as a MHRD research fellow, he started his PhD in 2012 under the supervision of Prof. Rahul Banerjee on the field of covalent organic frameworks (COFs). He worked exclusively in chemically stable covalent organic frameworks, mechanochemical synthesis of COFs, and their various applications like proton conduction (in PEMFC), gas storage (H2, CO2, CH4), water storage, supercapacitor. After finishing his PhD, he joined Prof. Mohamed Eddaoudi group in 2018 at KAUST, Saudi Arabia, as a postdoctoral research fellow and worked in industrial scale synthesis of MOF-Polymer composite for gas separations (H2S, SO2, etc.), gas sensing and COF based electrochemical transistor application. In September 2019, he joined Prof. Arne Thomas group at TU Berlin as a Humboldt postdoctoral fellow and developed a series of fully conjugated olefin linked (-C=C-) COFs for photocatalytic H2 production from water. In January 2022, he joined Prof. Miriam Unterlass group at CeMM as a pre-ERC postdoctoral fellow focusing on hydrothermal synthesis of COFs for biomedical application. After few months he moved to University of Liverpool as a Research Associate to work with Prof. Andrew Cooper on porous organic materials for selective CO2 captures and photocatalysis.
