Brandon Harris

Brandon Harris profile

Brandon Harris joined the group in April 2019 as a Postdoctoral Research Associate to enhance instrument integration in the autonomous discovery of functional materials, and study ways to increase optimisation through the implementation of artificial intelligence.

At the University of Wisconsin - Madison, he acquired a Bachelor of Science degree in physics and mathematics with a certificate in computer science. Through the plasma physics department, he produced a senior thesis after developing a backpropagation neural network for the isolation of x-ray signals from the Madison Symmetric Torus. Brandon went on to obtain a PhD in complex plasma with Prof. Truell Hyde and Prof. Lorin Matthews from Baylor University in Texas, primarily analysing low-temperature RF plasma containing micrometer-sized particles. In 2015, Brandon joined the Electrical Engineering and Electronics department of the University of Liverpool as a Postdoctoral Research Associate, expanding to the fields of magnetised and atmospheric plasma.

Away from science, Brandon enjoys reading, cycling, and traveling.
