Alex joined the group in 2020 as a postdoctoral research associate. His project focuses on the computational led design of novel porous materials for applications in difficult gas separations.

Alex completed his MChem studies in 2016 at the University of Hull where his 4th year project focused on the synthesis of new perovskite materials using CO2 as a feedstock. Upon graduating he went on to obtain a PhD at the University of Sheffield under the supervision of Dr. Robert Dawson. His PhD thesis focused on the design and synthesis of a novel type of porous and dispersible polymer nanoparticles leading to applications in areas such as chemosensing of explosive, white-light emission and homogeneous catalysis. Alex’s research interest lie in the design and application of microporous polymers with a focus on applying these materials to tackle real-world challenges.
