HSK examination

In accordance with recent University and government advice regarding COVID-19, please note all HSK exams scheduled below up until July have now been cancelled. We apologies for the disappointment and inconvenience caused by this, but this temporary measure is aimed at ensuring that our response to the current situation remains responsible and informed by the latest public health advice and expertise. This year, we will be offering some dates for the paper based HSK and the HSKK Oral Chinese Proficiency Tests. 

Once you have registered as a candidate, the timings and location for each level of test will be notified to you by email. The test duration will vary depending upon the level you will be taking (40 min for Level 1 up to 135 minutes for Level 6).

What are the costs

There will be a registration fee of £10 per candidate and the fees will depend upon the level you will be taking – see table below.

To ensure safe delivery of the certificate there will be an extra charge of £4.00 for secure postage.

 *if you are a registered student of another institution a copy of your student ID is also required. Current students are eligible for a reduced written HSK examination fee. See details from the Registration Form. 

How to register

Please download, complete and return the HSK Registration Form (link below), along with two passport-style photographs with your name written on reverse and a colour copy of your passport.

By post: complete the Registration Form and send to Liverpool Confucius Institute, The University of Liverpool, 126 Mount Pleasant, Liverpool, L69 3GR, together with a cheque made payable to the 'Confucius Institute, University of Liverpool' (payment by credit/debit card cannot be made through the post).

In person:  at the CI Reception, 126 Mount Pleasant (Monday to Friday, 10am – 2pm) to pay by cheque.

Please note:

Applications received after the deadline will not be processed. If the application forms are incomplete, a copy of valid photo ID is missing, or photos do not meet the standard requirement (photos are only required from applicants for HSK Level 3 or above; applicants for HSK Level 1 and Level 2 do not need to submit photos any more), your applications will be rejected. 

The Confucius Institute reserves the right to cancel or postpone the test date if the minimum number of applications have not been received.
