- Social/Online Media and the Transformation of Political & Policy Communication

Current Projects:
2017-19: The 'Interactive Racism' Project (Swedish Research Council/Vetenskapsrådet) - research project on how contemporary racism and xenophobia are moulded and normalised in public, including online, discourses on immigration and refugees. The key focus is on how and why racist views become particularly widespread at times of (real as well as imaginary) socio-political “crises” and how online racism interacts thereby with migration-related opinion journalism and discourses of political actors in Sweden and beyond.

Past Projects:
2014-17: The 'Journalism-Politics-PR on Twitter' (Swedish Research Council/Vetenskapsrådet) - research project on elite networks (esp. of journalists, politicians and PR/political communication practitioners) on Twitter in Sweden, Poland and in EU politico-institutional communication.  
2011-12: Media for Diversity and Migrant Integration (MEDIVA, EU -TCN Fund + Polish Ministry of Education) - research project on European media representations of third-country nationals and on integration of migrants in media discourses and media organisations
2006-11: Language Dynamics and Management of Diversity (DYLAN, EU-FP6) - research project on language diversity and neoliberal framing of language policy in transforming European Union
2007-08: Discourses of Refugees and Asylum Seekers in the UK Press (ESRC) - research project on negativity and bias in diachronic media representations of refugees and asylum seekers in the UK press​
2004-07: Media and Ethics of the European Public Sphere (EMEDIATE, EU-FP6) - research project on discourses about national and transnational crises in formation of a European Public Sphere
2003-05: The Discursive Re-/Construction of European Identities (Austrian National Bank Jubilee Fund) - research project on constructions of visions and conceptions of Europe in EU discourses on democracy and openness to citizens and 'the Future of Europe' debates
2002-06: Institutional Patterns and Politics of Racial Discrimination in Europe (XENOPHOB, EU-FP5) - research project on institutional and structural racism in European politics and institutions as well as on everyday racism in transforming European societies
