A Multimodal Approach to Online Political Communications

In this seminar, I introduce multimodal analysis, involving the study of the meaning arising from the interaction of language, image, sound and other resources in texts, interactions and events. From here, I discuss various digital tools and techniques for multimodal analysis and multimodal approaches to big data analytics. I investigate the implications of a multimodal big data approach to the study of online political communications across media platforms, with a focus on the future directions for research in this field.
