The two-day conference featured presentations and workshops that showcased a range of developments in Learning and Teaching from all areas of the institution. The conference is an opportunity to share good practice from around the University of Liverpool and beyond, raise awareness of the excellent teaching taking place, and provide a forum for staff to present new ideas on learning, teaching and assessment for discussion with fellow practitioners.
The theme of the 2019 conference was Inspire. Educate. Connect, which is in direct reference to our Education Strategy.
Professor Ruth Pickford, Director of Learning and Teaching at Leeds Beckett University, was keynote speaker.
Day One - Thursday 4th July 2019
Day Two - Friday 5th July 2019
This year, CIE hosted a “fringe” event on the second day of the conference. We developed a games-informed learning day called The Curriculum Maze, based on a well-known maze-based gameshow!
Teams of staff were each allocated a student who they had to navigate through a maze of 4 game zones, winning crystals for successful performance. Each game was based around one of the Curriculum 2021 Principles, delivered in an unusual and engaging way. The format included an escape room, gameshow and board game, culminating in a whole group creative challenge.
