Festival of Ideas Programme-1wThe free Festival of Ideas takes place across campus as the Giants pass through

The University of Liverpool is celebrating the return of the Royal de Luxe’s Giants with a programme of public events on campus including a preview of the newly refurbished Garstang Museum on Abercromby Square.

The 'Festival of Ideas’ links to the procession of the Grandmother Giant through the University campus and reflects the theme of  memories of 1914.

As well as a preview of the near-Eastern and Greco-Roman antiquities on display in the Garstang Museum, the `Festival of Ideas’ programme includes a series of family friendly science displays in the University’s Central Teaching Labs,  poetry readings from three acclaimed Modern War Poets and an interactive exhibition of the University Dental School’s pioneering contribution to facial reconstruction during the First World War.

Professor Tom Harrison, Director of the Festival of Ideas, said: “Fun, free and family friendly, the Festival of Ideas is a golden opportunity to spend the day enjoying a range of stimulating events whilst having a prime seat to watch as the Giants pass through the city.”

The Festival, which will also include music and dramatic performances, will run from 11am on Friday, 25 July and from 10am on Saturday, 26 July.

All events are free with no booking required.
