I Got Hired: Sophie
Posted on: 20 August 2026 by Richard Finch in Class of 2025
Sophie Hockin is a Class of 2025 Biological Sciences graduate who now works as an Account Executive at Random42 Ltd.
What first caught your attention about this role, and what made you think, “This is for me”?
The job role combined my passion for life sciences and communications. Being client facing was something I was looking for. Selling animated content and interactive experiences is an ever-evolving industry at the forefront of the life science and technology industries.
Which experience along your journey has had the biggest impact on who you are professionally today?
Finding my niche in a large industry has allowed me to develop my passion for sales.
What’s been the toughest part of your graduate journey - and what did it teach you?
Imposter syndrome is something I'm sure every graduate struggles with. Adjusting from university to working it is easy to worry 'am I good enough?'. I've learnt that if you work your hardest and give your all to your career, you will always be good enough!
If you could give future grads one piece of advice, what would it be?
Don't be scared of leaving university, it's okay to not know what you want to do in the future. By applying yourself and working hard you will be just fine! And enjoy university while you are there, I'm sure every graduate would say they miss it!

Graduate Outcomes Survey
The Graduate Outcomes survey exists to improve the experience of future students. All graduates are asked to share their perspectives 15 months after they finish their course, to build a national picture that UK universities and colleges use to innovate their services. League tables, Prospects and The Complete University Guide use our Graduate Outcomes data to help students make decisions about their future.
