I Got Hired: Lily

Posted on: 12 August 2026 by Richard Finch in Class of 2025

MEng Architectural Engineering graduate Lily Parker is now working as a Digital Construction Consultant at WSP, applying the skills and confidence developed through their University of Liverpool experience.

What first caught your attention about this role, and what made you think, “This is for me”?

Innovation and contributing to something forward thinking in construction and engineering.

Which experience along your journey has had the biggest impact on who you are professionally today?

Being under pressure and knowing I can make it through no matter how hard it is or how much I think I'm going to fail, I surprise my self with how much I know.

What’s been the toughest part of your graduate journey - and what did it teach you?

It’s very disheartening sometimes being rejected from so many grad jobs but you have to remember they don’t know you personally, and this is not always a reflection on you or how intelligent you are.

If you could give future grads one piece of advice, what would it be?

Put as much effort as you can into your work but remember to enjoy it too. Uni goes so fast and they are some of the best years of your life.

Graduate Outcomes Survey

The Graduate Outcomes survey exists to improve the experience of future students. All graduates are asked to share their perspectives 15 months after they finish their course, to build a national picture that UK universities and colleges use to innovate their services. League tables, Prospects and The Complete University Guide use our Graduate Outcomes data to help students make decisions about their future.
