I Got Hired: Rosie
Posted on: 17 August 2026 by Richard Finch in Class of 2025
Rosie, a Class of 2025 Biochemistry graduate, is now working as an Education Partnership Coordinator and Laboratory Technician at BioGrad.
What first caught your attention about this role, and what made you think, “This is for me”?
I had previously attended a bootcamp at BioGrad to upskill myself within the laboratory, and they sent me the job description upon completion. I really enjoyed my time at BioGrad and was excited to be able to join their team! I love how this role combines my passion of laboratory work with my love for teaching and aiding others in their academic careers.
Which experience along your journey has had the biggest impact on who you are professionally today?
Stepping out of my comfort zone in my part-time job alongside my studies at university, and also leading the Biochemistry Society as President, gave me the confidence to lead and speak in front of large groups. This aided me in my project presentation at the end of third year and allows me to feel confident in my abilities to teach others in the lab now.
What’s been the toughest part of your graduate journey — and what did it teach you?
Applying for jobs! It’s a very tough market for graduates within science at the moment, but putting myself forward for new experiences (even unpaid ones) and learning opportunities to further my own abilities gave me the confidence and motivation to apply for roles that I would not have thought I could do beforehand.
If you could give future grads one piece of advice, what would it be?
Take every opportunity that you can. Any course, any experience, any position, they are all going to help to improve your CV. Everyone applying to graduate jobs has the same degree level as you, make yourself stand out. But give yourself time and don’t let rejection demotivate you.>
