I Got Hired: Mili
Posted on: 18 August 2026 by Richard Finch in Class of 2025
Class of 2025 Law graduate Mili is now working as Paralegal at Wrexham County Borough Council,
What first caught your attention about this role, and what made you think, “This is for me”?
I had been applying for training contracts at big law firms in cities, and had been for a few interviews however, I was unsuccessful. This job caught my attention as it was different to what I was looking for - working for local government in an office that is local to me.
Which experience along your journey has had the biggest impact on who you are professionally today?
I have had many experiences which have contributed towards my professionalism throughout university however, attending the Liverpool Law Clinic was my biggest one. The opportunities to learn about the professional world and first hand experience with clients is invaluable. It goes beyond teaching in class, and puts the practical side of the legal world into perspective.
What’s been the toughest part of your graduate journey - and what did it teach you?
The toughest part of my graduate journey was definitely from job interviews. After multiple rejections it can take a toll especially when I had no work lined up, I felt lost. It taught me that it's okay to feel lost, I have my whole life ahead of me and everyone is in the same boat when they leave university (although sometimes it doesn't feel that way when you hear your friends have been successful with training contracts).
If you could give future grads one piece of advice, what would it be?
Apply for a wide range of jobs. Even if the job you are applying for would not be your first choice, I can guarantee you will enjoy it and will take away valuable experience for the future.
