I Got Hired: Megan

Posted on: 7 July 2026 by Richard Finch in Class of 2025

Megan is now working as Graduate Trainee at The Environment Agency, applying the skills and confidence developed through their University of Liverpool experience.

Megan Mitchell is a Geography graduate from the Class of 2025. Their graduate journey highlights the value of persistence, curiosity and learning through real professional challenges.

What first caught your attention about this role, and what made you think, “This is for me”?

The support surrounding the scheme, particularly the push for CPD and chartership. Also, the variety of roles available.

Which experience along your journey has had the biggest impact on who you are professionally today?

The field trip opportunities provided. These shaped not only my journey at university with friends, but also how I learnt what areas I enjoy, and which I don’t.

What’s been the toughest part of your graduate journey - and what did it teach you?

The toughest part has been adjusting to the pace and expectations of working on real projects, especially early on. Feeling like I’m rushing into working and not taking some time in between graduating and starting a job.

If you could give future grads one piece of advice, what would it be?

Don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. And say yes to any and all opportunities presented to you, you never know what might be helpful.

Graduate Outcomes Survey

The Graduate Outcomes survey exists to improve the experience of future students. All graduates are asked to share their perspectives 15 months after they finish their course, to build a national picture that UK universities and colleges use to innovate their services. League tables, Prospects and The Complete University Guide use our Graduate Outcomes data to help students make decisions about their future.
