Amy is now working as Digital Marketing Assistant at IFI Audio, applying the skills and confidence developed through their University of Liverpool experience.

Amy Lorrimer is a BA Communication and Media and English Literature graduate from the Class of 2025. Her graduate journey highlights the value of persistence, curiosity and learning through real professional challenges.

What first caught your attention about this role, and what made you think, “This is for me”?

It involves music, which has always been a huge passion of mine. The role perfectly blends a corporate professionalism with a creative love for the arts.

Which experience along your journey has had the biggest impact on who you are professionally today?

Probably my final year of university, during which time I was balancing my degree and two unpaid internships. At times I questioned if it would be worth it, but I look back now and I'm so thankful I put in the hard work.

What’s been the toughest part of your graduate journey - and what did it teach you?

About 6 months into my first graduate role, it was sprung upon me that the role was on a zero-hour contract and that I couldn't be given any more consistent hours. This taught me to be resilient when applying for new jobs very suddenly and unexpectedly. But also taught me to be more cautious going into future roles, and to ensure that the role is secure.

If you could give future grads one piece of advice, what would it be?

Take any opportunity you can in order to build up experience. Earlier on, you may take on roles that aren't ideal or your perfect job (and perhaps they are even voluntary or short term - though be cautious to set boundaries and expectations). It will feel futile at times, but trust that every little bit of effort you put in will be another piece of experience that you can use to discuss in interviews, or more opportunities to network.

Graduate Outcomes Survey

The Graduate Outcomes survey exists to improve the experience of future students. All graduates are asked to share their perspectives 15 months after they finish their course, to build a national picture that UK universities and colleges use to innovate their services. League tables, Prospects and The Complete University Guide use our Graduate Outcomes data to help students make decisions about their future.
