Krish: An EQ+ Celebration Series Winner Story

For the past three years, Krish has been involved in equality work across Liverpool and the UK. His campaigning for assistive technology in further education has taken him from local lobbying to co-hosting an event in Parliament with Thomas Pocklington Trust. He is also a school governor and trustee, a member of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Race Equality Panel, and Chair of British Transport Police’s National Youth Section.

What keeps you committed to equality and accessibility work?

I make an effort to have a real difference in people’s lives. When disabled students have been asking for educational accessibility, it should not take years for their voices to be heard. I have seen how important it is to keep going: from lobbying my local MP and Merseyside colleges to co-hosting an event in Parliament with Thomas Pocklington Trust. It is about helping turn people’s everyday experiences into real change.

Your work reaches across disability, racial equality and youth voice. What connects it all?

I try to support inclusion across the board: young people, women, disabled communities and racially marginalised communities. With the Race Equality Panel, I have contributed to work such as the anti-racism strategy following the far-right riots in summer 2024 and discussions about safety for ethnic minorities at the new St Helens Bus Interchange. Through British Transport Police, I have also worked to get more young people, especially those from ethnic minority backgrounds, involved in conversations about stop and search and safeguarding.

What are you building towards now?

I am working in the political and legal activism space, and I love it because I can help people while gaining experience in the two areas I want to build a future in. As a third-year Politics student preparing for a postgraduate law course, the work I do with British Transport Police and through disability campaigning feels directly connected to what I hope to do next. I want to keep combining practical activism with political and legal change.
