Antiepileptic drugs
Keywords
Antiepileptic drugs, outcomes
Expertise
The University has expertise in assessing treatments and
outcomes in epilepsy. Our methods include randomised
clinical trials, systematic review, prognostic modelling,
assessing pharmacogenomic predictors of outcome,
outcome development and neuropsychological and
quality of life assessment.
Our group of experts have experience in investigating
antiepileptic drugs in animal and
in vitro
models as well
as human patients.

Drug development
Keywords
Complex sugars (glycosaminoglycans), heparin
Expertise
Liverpool has world-class expertise in the functions of
complex sugars of the heparin class and other glycosa-
minoglycans. Our expertise encompasses the full breadth
of studies in this field, from research at the molecular and
cellular level, to investigations of whole organism functions
in model systems. We apply state-of-the-art methods
to analyse heparins and identify novel targets for drug
discovery and biotechnology applications.
Our researchers have considerable experience in
translating their work to drug discovery opportunities for
such compounds (eg drug candidates for Alzheimers
disease or malaria). We also offer laboratory analyses
of heparins for quality control.
Capabilities and facilities
