My research is mainly situated at the intersection of Political, Environmental, and Visual Communication with a particular focus on climate crisis communication. I’ve published studies on the multimodal media framing of climate change, on the networks of co-production between journalists, ENGOs, and government delegations at the COPs, on the visual framing of climate change in news, and on how audience members make sense of visual arguments and metaphors about climate action. I’m currently working on values in climate science communication with Katherine Furman (University of Liverpool), the role of interest groups in climate change discourse with Michael Brüggemann (University of Hamburg), and climate change attribution to extreme weather events in public debates with Jill Hopke (De Paul University, Chicago).
